The Skidmore 音乐 Department is rooted in the liberal arts tradition: we believe that music is an essential component of human experience and a unique vehicle for artistic, intellectual, and personal growth. By offering a range of opportunities, including classes, ensembles, lessons, and events, we strive to equip students of all backgrounds to experience, explore, and understand human culture and creativity through musical study.

音乐 Theory students compose steelband melodies:

Students in Jeremy Day-O’Connell’s MU241 (“Materials and Structures of 音乐 I”) composed calypso-style melodies, which were premiered in a steelband performance in the Grossman Recording Studio.
